Telangiectasia — dilated superficial vessels 0.1-1 mm across, commonest on cheeks and nasal alae — presents as fine linear or mesh-like redness. The essence is persistent dilatation after loss of vascular wall elasticity and supporting structure.

• Constitutional: thin, fair skin, visible from youth.
• Barrier-driven: over-cleansing, acid overuse, steroid-damaged skin — the commonest acquired type; barrier repair comes first.
• Rosacea: flushing + persistent erythema + vessels, managed as a whole disease.
