What Is a Q-Switched Laser?
Q-switching uses an optical gate (electro-optic crystal or passive saturable absorber) to release the resonator’s stored energy within nanoseconds, producing extremely high peak power in a short pulse. This is the technology that gave lasers the peak intensity needed to fracture pigment particles — the historical entry point of lasers into pigment therapy.
