Photorejuvenation: One Program for Pigment, Vessels and Texture
What Is Photorejuvenation?
Photorejuvenation is an IPL-based facial program targeting the photoaging triad: pigment (lentigines, freckles), vessels (telangiectasia, flushing) and texture (fine lines, pores, roughness). IPL’s spectrum covers melanin, hemoglobin and water absorption bands simultaneously, so one pass works on several targets — the reason it is the most-installed entry-level light-based program worldwide.
The Single-Session Experience
Cleanse + gel → opaque eye shields → gliding or stamping passes (rubber-band snaps with warmth) → cooling → sunscreen and out. Twenty to forty minutes, no downtime, brief mild erythema and darkened spots that micro-crust and shed.
Course Design
- Induction: 3-5 sessions at 3-4 week intervals to cover pigment/vascular cycles.
- Maintenance: one session every 3-6 months with photoprotection and skincare.
- Combinations: IPL as the base plus specialty tools (picosecond/Q-switched for stubborn pigment, RF for laxity, fractional/microneedle for scars) is standard clinic architecture.
Where Device Tiers Differ
Same name, different machines: output stability (safety and uniformity), sub-pulse waveform (OPT vs legacy spiky pulses), filter selection and cooling efficiency. Waveforms are detailed in the IPL entry. LEIJEX offers the OPT platform and DPL+NIR platform for different channels.
FAQ
Does photorejuvenation thin the skin?
No. Properly dosed IPL stimulates dermal collagen; studies show increased dermal thickness. “Thinning and sensitivity” usually traces to over-treatment or post-treatment sun exposure.
When will I see results?
Spots lighten 1-2 weeks after crusting; vessels need 2-3 sessions; texture accumulates over 3+. “One-session transformation” expectations need managing.
